Jennifer Jung

 2020- 2021

Welcome to Ms. Jung's First Grade Classroom!

This year is going to be like riding a roller coaster! There will be lots of laughter, excitement and nervousness that will accompany the twists, turns and bumps as we head along the track. We can do this! I know that we're going to make a great team with a shared goal in common of keeping each and every child safe and sound while in an encouraging and supportive learning environment.  I am looking forward to getting to know you and your family throughout this school year.  Get ready - here we gooooooooo!

The first few weeks of a new school year are always full of excitement and anticipation.  As I realize that during this time there can be questions and anxiety for our students, I have planned activities where everyone in the class community can begin to become familiar with one another as well as the everyday class group expectations and routines of on-line learning. We will practice using an IPad along with the learning platforms of SeeSaw and Google Classroom. There will be many firsts for most of us! We will learn how to draw and write on a digital stickie note and post it so that others can see our ideas. We will take pictures of our work; videotape our learning and create projects where we can demonstrate our amazing ideas and thoughts.

We all have questions and concerns about what school will be like this year. I will do my very best to teach new concepts, facilitate learning and create a classroom community where all feel welcomed. We will begin the year with modeling and providing practice so that our time together during our Google Meets session is full of learning for everyone. We will use the features found on Google Meets to share with each other and listen for that very important idea or information! We will also use these learning tools to show our thinking and to engage with each other.

Please help your child locate a space in your home where they feel most comfortable to learn. It should be in a quiet area with enough light to see the screen. Please keep the learning area free from distractions, such as toys, televisions and playful pets and siblings.  Some type of table with a chair/seat is best where the children have available school supplies, including the IPAD. A daily schedule along with the links to Google Meets will be made available and posted onto Class Dojo and onto the First Grade Google Document web page.
