Assessment & Grading

Assessment and Grading in Physical Education

Assessment is an integral part of our physical education program. We assess three domains of learning in physical education in alignment with New Mexico State and SHAPE America standards; cognitive, psychomotor and affective. We utilize assessment as both a measure of student progress and a tool for meaningful feedback. The standards we assess are:

Standard 1- Demonstrates large and small motor skills

Standard 2- Demonstrates an understanding of movement concepts and principles

Standard 3/4- Participates in and understand a healthy level of physical fitness

Standard 5/6- Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior 

Every trimester we assess a different skill or concept that aligns with benchmarks and performance strands for each standard. To see how your student progress in physical education was measured in the first trimester click the grade level links below.
