Support for Children and Families

Mission Avenue Elementary PTA works in collaboration with Mission Avenue's counselor and parent liaison as well as New City Church and other local and neighborhood groups to assist school families in need. This support provided is only for families with children who attend Mission Avenue Elementary. We collaborate on such projects as:

  • Collecting, organize, and distribute gently used shirts, pants, shorts, coats, and other gently used clothes for kids ages 5-11 for the school's clothing bank.
  • Distribute food from the Road Runner Food Bank..
  • Collecting and distribute school supplies at the beginning of the year.
  • Collecting specific Thanksgiving food items for Thanksgiving baskets
  • The Christmas Giftmart - the community donates $15 - $20 children's toys. Specific families are invited so the parents can shop and buy the donated gifts for $2 while their children participate in holiday games and activities. All money raised goes back to the school in order to buy underwear, socks and other needed items for the school's clothing bank.

Be sure to check the Volunteer and Donation page on a regular basis to see what you can help with.

In addition, PTA pays for pizza and drinks when the 4th graders return in between performances.
